Every year, thousands of Orem residents, and plenty of others, flock to University Place and The Orchard for summer activities. University Place has announced over 20 events for the public from June through August at The Orchard park on the north central side of University Place.
All of the events are free, and residents are encouraged to bring their own seating – whether a blanket or chairs. This summer’s events and activities, with information provided by University Place, include:
Orem Chorale Spring Concert, 7 pm on June 3
This is the first concert The Orem Chorale has performed at University Place. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy an evening of patriotic and playful show tunes.
Summer Kick-Off Luau, 7-9 pm on June 4
The Orchard’s official kick-off party for the summer. Guests can take a tour of the Pacific and enjoy food, games and performances from professional entertainers including fire dancers in a family-friendly evening.
Pray Summerfest Kick-Off Party, 7 pm on June 6
For the 5th year in a row, Orem Summerfest begins at University Place with storytelling by Bill Lepp. New to the event this year is “The Taste of University Place.” Several restaurants will be set up outside offering their most popular food and treats during the event for free.
Guys Night Out, 6-8 pm on June 17
Try your hand at axe-throwing, rock climbing or take a turn on a mechanical bull at a free night out with friends or family. A free snack bar will be included.
Revamped Family Movie Nights, 7 pm on June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15
University Place has updated one the summer series to include themed entertainment and activities leading up to the movie start. The games start at 7 pm with the movies starting at dusk, usually about 9 pm This year’s movie lineup includes “Hook,” “Zootopia” and “Spiderman: No Way Home.” Free popcorn will be available at every show.
Clog America: American Folk Dance Show, 7-9 pm on June 23
As part of the annual Freedom Festival line-up, Clog America is returning to University Place to perform for the fourth year. The show tells the story of America’s Folk Dance history with live music and traditional dance.
Outdoor Concerts, 6-8 pm on July 1 and Aug. 12
University Place is offering two outside concerts featuring local cover bands Moe Low & Geneva Road on July 1, and Flashback Brothers on Aug. 12, covering a wide range of hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Renaissance Day, 6-9 pm on July 9
Fighting knights in full armor will entertain and delight spectators at the fourth annual Renaissance Day at University Place. There will be European-style entertainment and food. At dusk there will be a screening of “The Princess Bride.”
Pioneer Day Fireworks, 5-9:30 pm on July 23
The largest Pioneer Day celebration in Utah County, everyone who wants is encouraged to celebrate Utah’s heritage with live music, giveaways, a pie eating contest, vendors and more. The evening will culminate with a musically-choreographed firework show.

Bolivian Festival, 4-9 pm on July 30
For the second year, the Bolivian Festival will be at University Place. Beginning with a parade featuring Central & South American cultures, there will also be live performances, food, vendors and more.
African Heritage Festival, 2-8 pm on Aug. 6
Enjoy African heritage and culture at the African Heritage Festival, hosted by the Ngoma Y’ Africa Cultural Center of Provo. There will be an African parade, live performances, food and more.
